Noel Gallagher believes Premier League clubs outside the ‘big six’ are behaving like “scorned wives” over the Super League proposal.

Manchester City were amongst the six Premier League clubs to join the breakaway competition, which collapsed within 48 hours.

All six English clubs pulled out on Tuesday night after mass outrage within the media, supporters and wider football community.

However, Gallagher, whilst condemning the proposal, believes the remaining 14 clubs would have all jumped at the chance to join the Super League if they had been offered the opportunity.

“The statement, from one of Arsenal’s lot (Josh Kronke), that the world wants to see Arsenal vs Barcelona, no we don’t,” Gallagher told talkSPORT.

“We want to see it when the names are drawn out of the hat, once in a while. English people like their Wednesday nights at Stoke as if we’re neanderthals or something.

“‘Hang on a minute mate, we’ve been doing this for 200 years’. It was laughable and it was even more laughable the way it just folded. As Simon Jordan said, if you want to have a fight, have a fight. It’s like Piers Morgan walking off the TV when someone pulls him up about something.

“They never explained what it would be and it’s been fascinating to watch. The other 14 clubs are behaving like scorned wives. They’d have all jumped on that train.”
