Ross County enjoyed a huge success against Aberdeen last weekend, hitting the Dons early and running out 4-1 winners. Victory lifted the Staggies off the bottom of the league and they’ll be looking for a similar performance to that win and the away victory at Easter Road when Hughes’ side saw off Hibs.

Rangers stuttered at Motherwell on Sunday in a slow-starting draw at Fir Park and Steven Gerrard will be keen to find their top gears again to maintain their dominant lead at the summit of the Premiership.

Team news

Ryan Jack could be back in contention for Rangers after his over-due return from injury and Kemar Roofe is back in full training.

George Edmundson has had a small hernia operation so will be missing, as will Scott Arfield who is continuing to rehabilitate from his ankle injury.

Cedric Itten’s fourth goal against Motherwell this season has also pushed him to the front of the queue calling for a start, though Jermain Defoe also impressed off the bench on Sunday.

The Staggies have question marks over Carl Tremarco, Callum Morris and striker Ross Stewart.

Previous Meetings

Rangers have not conceded to the Staggies for almost three years – the last goal scored was a David Ngog penalty at Ibrox in January 2018.

So far Rangers have registered six goals without reply this season, James Tavernier scoring a goal in each game – 2-0 and 4-0 wins. Brandon Barker also scored for Rangers at Ibrox while Dingwall Kemar Roofe, Jermain Defoe and a Callum Morris own goal also counted for Rangers.

Last season the Ibrox side won by the same scorelines and also scored a 1-0 win in the Highlands.
